Remembrance Day : Never let us forget the people who died for our freedom.

The 11th of November is the anniversary of the end of the First World War (WW1).
More than 100 countries participated.
35 million people died.
The War started in 1914 and ended on the 11th November 1918.

On Remembrance day, we honour our military troups. Soldiers participate in a grand parade.

In the next video, you can see the Queen participating in the Remembrance ceremony.

Terrible images from World War 1 : Mud, Blood and Death.
Soldiers lived in terrible conditions, it was cold and damp, there were parasites and rats, they were often hungry and it was always very dangerous.

In this video you can see battle scenes from World War I (WW1). Scary!

The British troups came from all over the world : Canadians, Americans, West Indians, Indians, Australians and New Zealanders...and of course Great Britiain. Watch this parody of a soldier arriving in the British trenches.

Play the "Trench mission": collect the document from the officer and take it to your superior. Watch out for the RATS!!!

But why was there a world war?

It's a complicated story of friends and enemies.

The borders changed with every battle...

Watch how the world changed in this video.

Play the game! Europe in 1914. Place the correct name on each country. Click here!

Life was very difficult for the soldiers in the trenches. Watch this rare colour film with scenes of World War One.

The World Wars are finished, but there are still wars today and soldiers still die to defend our freedom.

Today in Britain, poppies are sold around Remembrance Day. The money helps soldiers and their families.

Poppies are the symbol of Remembrance Day in the United Kingdom.
