Australia

Australia is a country, a continent and an island in the southern hemisphere.

In fact, its real name is the Commonwealth of Australia and it includes
   - the Mainland of the Australian Continent,
   - the island of Tasmania
   - and numerous other islands in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.

The capital city is Canberra. It is between Sydney and Melbourne, on the South-East coast.

It has a population of 22.6 million people.

The first inhabitants were the indigenous Australians, or aboriginals. Many British and Irish people went to live in Australia for generations after that.

Australia has no official language and no state religion. But nearly everyone speaks English!

  4. Sorry I don't know where the photo of the kangaroo on the beach was taken, Thibault, but it is a postcard from Australia for sure. Maybe the little mountains (or hills) are monoliths!
If any Australians come across this blog, maybe they can help us!
